Sunday preview
The card at Punchestown was finally given the go-ahead following a third inspection at 11am, ensuring there are two Irish meetings for punters to get stuck into this Sunday.
The Grade 2 Tied Cottage Chase tops the bill at the County Kildare venue, and the 2m contest appears likely to boil down to a match between Big Zeb and Golden Silver. The first-named returns to the scene of his narrow defeat by Master Minded at last year’s festival but has questions to answer following a very disappointing effort in the Tingle Creek and fell in this last year. By contrast, his big rival is on a real roll after winning both starts this season – the latest a Grade 1 at Leopardtown over Christmas.
Moscow Flyer, a dual winner of the Tied Cottage earlier in the decaded, is honoured in the Grade 2 novice hurdle and his trainer Jessica Harrington could have the answer with course and distance winner Saludos. The son of Bob Back has a nice pull at the weights for his Leopardstown defeat by Hollo Ladies.
A big field goes to post for the Grand National Trial, and JP McManus has a couple of interesting contenders in the shape of High Fidelitay and Checkpointcharlie.
There are several short-priced favourites in action at Limerick, with Sounds Of Jupiter and Some Target in particular looking outstanding candidates for their respective assignments.
