Down Royal Preview
Following an anxious morning due to the threat of snow Down Royal’s Wednesday fixture has been given the green light, and there is some really interesting action in prospect.
Racing kicks off at the later time of 1.30, and point-to-point winner Out Now looks a likely type for the opening maiden hurdle after running his best race under rules so far at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival.
Runner-up in the aforementioned contest was subsequent MCR Hurdle hero Puyol and C’est Ca, not far behind in third in that valuable recent affair, makes plenty of appeal as he steps up in trip for the 2m4f hurdle despite having something to find at the weights.
Chasing Cars has fallen on his last two starts over fences but had looked a sure-fire future winner at Navan previously and has another opportunity in the beginners chase. This looks a hot race of its type though, with Del Rio – a promising Fairyhouse fourth behind Henry de Bromhead’s Arkle winner An Cathaoir Mor on his debut – one of several above-average rivals in the line-up.
