Fairyhouse Tuesday preview

February 9th, 2010 by Gary O Brien

The first of a two-day fixture at Fairyhouse, brought about by abandonments last month, goes ahead following a morning inspection and big double-figure line-ups have been declared for each of the seven races.

French import Arvika Ligeonneire was a costly failure on his debut in a bumper here but created a much more positive impression when returning to land a 2m4f maiden hurdle last month. Willie Mullins’ exciting prospect now faces a much stiffer test against Summit Meeting, who disappointed in a Grade 1 at Navan on his most recent outing, in the 2m hurdle.

Will Jamie Run has been in good form over fences of late and now seeks to exploit a much lower hurdles mark in the 2m4f handicap, but with the likes of Manger Hanagement and Le Marquis in opposition that won’t necessarily be easy.

Perhaps the race of the day is the 2m beginners chase, which sees a clash between last year’s Grade 2 Easter Festival novice hurdle winner Kempes and 2006 Sun Alliance Hurdle hero Nicanor. Although no longer the force of old, the latter probably has the stronger overall form in this discipline.
